Now is the time to pick your struggle; instead of being “euw im so over “demure” you could just simply demure your way into relatable and good performing content that yields positive results for you as well as your social media.

Okay, that was abit of a heavy start i admit but you know sometimes i need the message to be loud and clear. I will be the first one to admit that trends will find their way to your last nerve that is very normal. You know when you start seeing big brands tapping into it then you will start seeing it on every platform. Without fail, you will then start seeing complains about how everyone is doing the same thing which gets boring to most. That is unfortunately the nowaday cycle of social media. Now as a social media marketer i play both the villains in this case, the being so over seeing the same content idea and the also making sure as a social media manager i include my client accounts in all relatable trending content. Which is bringing me to blog, to say actually maybe you do not have to be so edgy, rather embrace trending content for what it is…

Try Not to be a Part of the Problem

Think of Unique Ways to fit the trend into your industry to make sure you are one of those who contribute to the trend positively by being entertainining and bringing something different. Create your own content pieces that are still out of the box as much as they are part of the trend. What Netflix did with the Demure trend by collaborating with the creator to build a Demure watchlist, that was a very creative way of being relatable to both the trend (its creator) and viewer in a uniquely Netflix way. Like only a streaming platform could have a ‘Demure Watchlist”, right?

If You Will Think About It, Then Use it To your Advantage

See if you are already thinking about this trend anyway before you even complain why not think how can i use this trend to benefit me, can my social media generate an income from it, can i increase my views or my reach from this trend or can i be atleast entertained ke nje by it. Now the big part of a social media and its trends as per my previous blog post, it is to choose to either entertain or not. If you do, then it has to fit the above narrative by being not being a part of the problem. Big brands like Netflix do not insert themselves into every trend that would be very disingenuous. However, not all the trends they choose to engage with are blatantly industry related like a movies or series industry trend. Like Demure, this was just a saying, they were able to find a way to relate it to their industry, this is the thinking out of the box that is necessary to make a trend fun.

Just stop being edgy, period…

lol remember this is an attack to me as much as it as attack to you if you are feeling attacked. The emphasis of my blog and its posts is to serve as a reminder of how we must all maintain healthy online lives. That means staying cautious, staying true to you, your brand or the business. Sometimes a trend will not be for you. Just because you are on social media it does not mean that you should also take part in everything that you consume. Therefore extend the grace to those who are participating in that particular trend, do not be jelly and “soo over it” just because you are specifically not taking part…or even if you do not ever take part at all, other kids still need to live.

What are your thoughts on trends, are you happy to consume them for entertatinment or do you also happily take part in them for various social media reasons even if it not for growth. Let’s chat in the comments.
